Leading a delegation from Nepal, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ departed for Uganda to attend the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit. He flew on Qatar Airlines out of here early this morning.

The NAM summit is scheduled on January 19–20 in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. PM Senior Nepali government officials, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal, Foreign Minister Narayan Prakash Saud, and his daughter Ganga Dahal lead the delegation led by Dahal.

On Friday, PM Dahal is expected to speak at the conference, which has as its theme “deepening global cooperation for shared global affluence.” He is going to the special event that the president of Uganda is hosting that day in honor of the heads of the visiting delegation.

The PM and his counterparts from the participating nations will have bilateral meetings during the summit. Prior to the NAM summit’s main event, Foreign Minister NP Saud had already traveled for Uganda for a cabinet meeting.

The 19th NAM summit is reportedly expected to discuss the ministerial report, assess how the 18th NAM summit is being implemented, and adopt a Kampala declaration.

Since NAM’s formation, Nepal has actively participated in its summits and is one of its founding members. One of Nepal’s core international ideals is non-alignment. The NAM was founded in 1961.

January 21 is PM Dahal’s return date.
